SELF PORTRAITS & OTHER DRAWING TOOLS

Socioanalysts and psychoanalysts have advocated the use of drawings because they capture vast amounts of rich data about both the conscious and unconscious (Long, 2013). The act of drawing and then describing the drawing allows participants to think creatively and openly. How the drawings are explored can affect the data generated and the opportunities for growth for the individual.

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING

 Based on the work of W.R. Miller, motivational interviewing is an intervention to help clients explore and resolve their Ambivalence – where there is something about yourself that you want to change, need to change, should change, have been thinking about changing but you haven’t changed yet
, that is something you’re ambivalent about, or what we often call  “feel stuck”.
